Beyond Toxics hosts EEFF Day 7!
Visit the EEFF website for details on Thursday's screenings, workshops and off-site festival events!
THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES:
Not on This Land (42m): This film is about the citizen activists who spent 6+ years fighting the 600-mile Atlantic Coast Pipeline from destroying ecosystems and harming Black and Indigenous communities across West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. The pipeline, which would have carried frack gas, was seen as a done deal until communities came together across the region to fight it and, against all odds, won the fight. It’s a David & Goliath story that can inspire and inform others who are engaged in protecting their land and water from toxic infrastructure projects.
The Last Bumblebee (81m): In 2006, the iconic bumblebee referred to as "Franklin's Bumblebee" was last seen on the landscape in the mountainous region of Ashland, Oregon. Since then, search team's have been looking every year for it, in hopes of finding the bumblebee. Franklin's Bumblebee has been put on the Endangered Species List, but more importantly, if searchers aren't able to find the bumblebee, it will be the first bumblebee to ever go extinct. This has been a trend for other species of bumblebees over the past 30 years as well, and researchers want to know why. This film dives deep into discovery, and offers some solution as to how we can save the last bumblebee before it's too late.
Join Beyond Toxics, the Center for Biological Diversity, XERCES, US Fish and Wildlife, and The Last Bumblebee Team for a panel discussion on Bees and conservation.EEFF: Oct 5 showing at: October 5, 5:30 pm
