Heavenly Bodies

This Playboy Pictures production started as a shameless cash grab (think of a FLASHDANCE knock-off, but with less welding, about Aerobics and also a lot more Canadian) but it’s so earnest and loaded with ear worm songs that it can’t help but win over even the most jaded of viewers. Cynthia Dale gives a delightfully charming performance as Samantha, a single mom who up and quits her dreaded office job to follow her dream- opening up her own Aerobics gym. Yes, there are gorgeous people doing copious amounts of Aerobics and dancing on display. Yes, this at times is a wild mishmash of 1980s Mtv aesthetics and 1950s movie musicals. Yes, like all good films, this one has an Evil corporate Gym, hell bent on destroying the humble Heavenly Bodies gym. What transpires is a joy to behold, and you’ll likely leave the theater wanting to jumpstart your fitness for the new year while downloading the song “Into the Flow” by Boys Brigade. Trigger warnings: contains Aerobics, boobs, Canadian wholesomeness, a profound misunderstanding of how local news works and a bevy of catchy 80s songs you probably sadly missed until now.DramaPT1H30MR2026-01-31
