Steffen Land Quartet presents: An Evening of Jazz Standards

Over the course of two 45-minute sets, the quartet will explore a dynamic mix of beloved classics and hidden gems, reshaping them through a lens of modern improvisation, deep groove, and high-level musical interaction.</div><div><br></div><div>The quartet features Steffen Land on saxophone, Robert Bohall on piano, Eli Hansen on bass, and Noah Bernacki on drums. Having honed their chemistry together through the prestigious University of Oregon Jazz Studies program, these musicians bring a shared vocabulary and vibrant energy to the stage. Don't miss this intimate evening of classic tunes reimagined for the modern era.</div><div><br></div><div>About Steffen Land:</div><div><br></div><div>Steffen Land is a passionate jazz saxophonist and a University of Oregon graduate, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, a master’s degree in education, and a secondary teaching credential. A native of Los Angeles, Steffen began playing saxophone at the age of nine under the tutelage of D’Addario Woodwinds Artist Ian Vo, with whom he has been studying for over 16 years.</div><div><br></div><div>During his seven years at UO, Steffen had the privilege of being a part of the 2025-2026 Kenton Sandine Scholarship Jazz Combo as well as learning from and collaborating with renowned musicians, including Keith Brown, Ken Mastrogiovanni, Joe Manis, Steve Owen, Paul Krueger, Tyler Abbott, Idit Shner, George Colligan, Torrey Newhart, and many others.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>An active performer, Steffen has played with UO’s Oregon Jazz Ensemble and Honors Combos for several years and has appeared multiple times as a bandleader at the Jazz Station, where he recorded his debut record, “Steffen Land 1,” which is available on all music streaming platforms. His dedication to the tradition and innovation of jazz continues to shape both his artistry and his commitment to sharing music with the community.</div><div><br></div><div>Robert Bohall:</div><div><br></div><div>Robert’s compositions have been performed by esteemed ensembles including The Oregon Jazz Ensemble, The University of Oregon Chamber Choir, and Jazzarts Oregon. Notably, Western Oregon University featured him as a guest composer in their choral department, and afterwards commissioned him to write a new choral piece for them to perform in their 2024-25 school year. His music is available on all major streaming platforms, with his latest album titled "Standards: Vol. 1."</div><div><br></div><div>In addition to his performing and composing career, Robert co-hosts the jam at The Jazz Station in downtown Eugene. He also teaches privately and at the Lassen Piano Studio. As a choral musician, Robert serves as a bass section leader for the Eugene Symphony Chorus and has performed in the Bach Festival Chorus for three seasons.</div><div><br></div><div>Eli Hansen:</div><div><br></div><div>Eli Hansen is an upright and electric bassist, synthesist, engineer and educator from Roseburg, Oregon. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in the Jazz Studies program at the University of Oregon and is an active member of the Pacific Northwest music scene. As a sideman, he has worked with Eugene and Portland luminaries such as Joe Manis, Roger Woods, Olem Alves, Ehren Ebbage, Julia Logue, Golden Boy, BendreTheGiant, and Nick Gamer. Additionally, he has been featured as a soloist and accompanist in groups such as the University of Oregon Wind Ensemble, the Oregon Jazz Ensemble, JazzArts Oregon, and the Eugene Concert Choir.</div><div><br></div><div>Noah Bernacki:</div><div><br></div><div>Noah Bernacki is a jazz drummer from the Eugene area who has performed with a variety of local and national legends of the music, including: New York Saxophonist Roxy Coss, New York trombonist Michael Davis, Esperanza Spalding, Francisco Torres, and more. He was also selected as one of the 30 best young Jazz Musicians in the nation in 2023 to be involved with the Brubeck Jazz Summit.
