The Legend of Billy Cat

Using found objects and recycled materials, Crum creates elaborate spectacles of fantasy which are filmed on a sound stage in a trailer. From this platform he has reached the prestigious Miami International Science Fiction Festival three times winning Best Children’s Film and Best Practical Effects for 16 SPACE COWBOY.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;">Since 2019 Crum has been creating one person films under the title A FILM BY SUMMERLAKE. These films include the science fiction musical 16 SPACE TRILOGY, the talking Shakespearian puppets of THERE U HAVE IT, the legendary bluster of THE WAY OF GILGAMESH, the fantasy world of ANDORRA, and now he goes seafaring with THE LEGEND OF BILLY CAT.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;">THE LEGEND OF BILLY CAT is the story of a castaway kitty who is impressed into service on a 18th century warship whose captain breaks into new wave songs to explain his questionable actions which include piracy and stealing a time machine. The thrown away toys and apple heads who make up the rest of the crew take a shine to Billy whose bluff honesty stands in direct contrast to the devious captain (who is played by Crum).</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;">The characters are portrayed by a group of puppets call the Crumpets and are created from carboard, fake fur, and office scraps and often appear in multiple films, taking on their own acting style. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;">Drawing from classic film and literature but with a definite modern approach, Crum does all the technical and creative aspects of the production as well as post-production (disregarding writing the music).
